Mr. Fitzgerald began his career at Wilson High School in 1989, teaching drafting, woodworking and graphic arts classes. From 1990 to 2000, he served as the department chairman, overseeing the transition from an Industrial Arts curriculum to Technology Education. During that period, he started the Tech Prep initiative at Wilson, which was a nationwide effort to integrate academic and hands-on skills. As part of that initiative he taught Principles of Technology, an applied physics class, for 13 years and trained other teachers to present the course.
His current teaching schedule varies from year-to-year, and includes courses such as Black & White Photography, Digital Multimedia I & II, Digital Photography and Construction Technology. Mr. Fitzgerald received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education from Millersville University in 1981 and a Master’s Degree in Technology Education in 1995.
Outside of school, he likes to work on various multimedia projects, and enjoys mountain biking, running and swimming.
